Basses
I use two basses at the moment. My Rickenbacker 4001 model manufactured in June 1980 or my fretless bass made from Schecter parts.
My Rickenbacker has a sunburst finish and a white pickguard. It also has white binding on the body and neck.
It comes with two inputs; one for that vintage Rickenbacker sound and one for the 'normal' sound. I uses the Rickenbacker input.
My fretless has a wood varnish finish and a black pickguard. Only one input though!
Amplification
I use my Trace Elliot combo amp at the moment. It has a 7 band EQ and other stuff i don't know much about but know how to use(?) It is 130 watts of pure bass power. (when i use it).
Playing style
Unlike all the other gay as bass players in 'Punk' bands i use my fingers to play. I started with a plectrum back in 1994/1995 but abandoned it when i started college and started using fingerstyle. I get more feel when I am playing and can play better than you. I use lots of arpeggios and modal runs in my personal playing (jazz/fusion) but in the ONE NIGHT STAND I use modes and occasionally (the shame) ROOT BASS. This only to drive certain songs along and do not recommend playing root bass all the time unless you are a bitch! (Ben's word ha ha!!) I am also famed for my use of harmonics. (ask anyone in the band)
Influences
My first influences on the bass were Cliff Burton of Metallica (he used a Rickenbacker!) and Steve Harris from Iron Maiden. Then it was Flea from RHCP. Now it is Jaco Pastorius and other Jazz players you haven't heard of. I have been playing seven years.
